DAC High School Athlete of the Year Award


What are the benefits to the student athlete?
  • State wide recognition.
  • Personalized video documenting the student's accomplishments.
  • Introduction at Press Conference, held at Detroit Athletic Club.
  • Two $2,500 and ten $1,000 scholarships presented by the DAC Foundation.
What are the qualifications?
  • Member of the Senior Class.
  • Demonstrated excellence in Athletics:
    • MHSAA sanctioned sports
    • State ranking
  • Demonstrated excellence in Scholastics:
    • Grade Point Average of 3.0 or greater
    • ACT/SAT/PSAT scores helpful
  • Recognized Citizenship:
    • School leadership
    • Community involvement
    • Volunteerism
What are the critical dates?
  • Return application by January 31, 2009.
  • Committee selects twelve nominees by February 27, 2009.
  • Press Conference at Detroit Athletic Club, March 10, 2009 to announce nominees.
  • National Athletic Awards at Detroit Athletic Club, May 11, 2009.

  • In any year of college education
  • Demonstrated excellence in Athletics:
    • Conference Sanctioned
  • Demonstrated excellence in Scholastics:
    • Grade Point Average of 3.0 or greater
    • Transcripts required
  • Recognized Citizenship:
    • School leadership
    • Community involvement
    • Volunteerism

  • Return application by March 27, 2009.
